Oil Filtration Machines

Hydraulic Oil Filtration Machine

Quick answer

A hydraulic oil filtration machine cleans hydraulic oil by removing particles, free and dissolved water, and entrained air, which protects pumps, valves and cylinders from wear. TOFM builds hydraulic oil filtration machines within its 50 LPH to 20,000 LPH range, matched to the reservoir volume and the oil grade.

Overview

Most hydraulic failures start with contaminated oil. Fine particles wear pump surfaces and score valve spools, and water reduces lubrication and causes corrosion. A hydraulic oil filtration machine removes these contaminants so the oil can stay in service longer.

TOFM hydraulic oil filtration machines are built on the same platform as our transformer oil filtration machines, combining filtration to 1 micron or finer with vacuum dehydration below 0.1 mbar. We build them as mobile units that serve several machines in a plant, or as stationary units for a central hydraulic system.

How does hydraulic oil filtration work?

Step 1Suction and strainerOil is drawn from the reservoir through a coarse strainer.
Step 2HeatingOptional heating lowers viscosity for thicker oil grades.
Step 3Vacuum dehydrationFree and dissolved water and entrained air are removed under vacuum.
Step 4Fine filtrationParticles are removed in staged filter elements.
Step 5ReturnClean oil returns to the reservoir.

Frequently asked questions

Why filter hydraulic oil instead of replacing it?

Filtration removes particles and water so oil that is still chemically sound can stay in service, which cuts oil purchase and disposal. If oil tests show oxidation or depleted additives, the oil needs replacing; filtration does not restore additives.

How is a hydraulic oil filtration machine different from a transformer oil filtration machine?

Both remove water and particles. A transformer oil machine is designed to reach very low moisture and gas levels for insulating strength, while a hydraulic oil machine focuses on particle cleanliness and water removal to protect moving parts.

Can one machine serve several hydraulic systems?

Yes. A mobile TOFM unit can be moved between machines and connected to each reservoir in turn.

What is the lead time?

Manufacturing takes up to 60 to 70 days, and TOFM accepts orders from 1 unit.
